Pronouns
  • Pronouns are words that are used to replace a
    noun.
  • Examples
  • I, we, you, he, she, it, they, my, mine, our,
    ours, your, yours, his, her, hers, its, their,
    theirs, me, us, him, them, themselves, those,
    everyone, no one

Nominative pronouns
  • Nominative pronouns can only be used as the
    subject of the verb in a sentence.
  • Nominative pronouns include
  • I, you, he, she, it, we, they
  • I went to the store.
  • I is a nominative pronoun because I is the
    subject of the sentence
  • The sentence would never say
  • Me went to the store

Objective pronouns
  • Objective pronouns can only be used as the object
    of a verb, sentence, or preposition.
  • Objective pronouns include
  • me, you, her, him, it, us, them
  • The English students often work well for me.
  • Here, me is the objective pronoun because me
    is the object of the sentence. The sentence
    would never say The English students often work
    well for I.

Possessive pronouns
  • Possessive pronouns show ownership and takes the
    place of a possessive noun.
  • Examples my, mine, your, yours, his, her, hers,
    its, our, ours, their, theirs
