Sperm pathway

• Testes- spermatogenesis (Meiosis in males)
• Epididymis- where sperm mature (get their tail,
  learn how to be sperm) and are stored until
  ejaculation
• Vas Deferens- tube carrying sperm and gluids from
  the glands (connects epididymis to urethra)
• Seminal Vesicle Gland
• Prostate Gland
• Bulbourethral Gland
• Urethra- tube carrying semen (between vas
  deferens and outside body)

• Sperm do not GO INTO the following 3 glands. The
  gland makes a fluid and sends it into the vas
  deferens so that when the sperm swim by the fluid
  gets added
• Gland 1 Seminal Vesicle Gland- adds fructose
  (sugar) to the sperm
• Gland 2 Prostate gland adds a basic pH
  solution to sperm to protect them from the acidic
  vagina
• Gland 3 Bulbourethral gland (cowpers gland)
  adds a basic pH solution to sperm to protect them
  from the acidic male urethra

Pathway of egg

• Ovary - oogenesis (meiosis in female)
• Fallopian Tube (oviduct)
• Uterus
• Cervix
• Vagina

Inside the ovary

• Egg also called ovum (ova- plural of ovum)
• Woman born with all her eggs, however they are
  immature
• When female hits puberty - in the ovary one egg
  starts maturing. It takes around 26-30 days for
  one egg to mature. Each month one egg goes
  through the process of maturing- this is the
  menstrual cycle
• The follicle is the case that surrounds each egg
  in the ovary and nourishes it and helps it mature
