- DLA provides financial support for those who
have care and mobility needs, whether they work
or not - Tax free
- Non-contributory

- Not taken into account when calculating
entitlement to other benefits - At the time of claiming the customer must be
under minimum pension age

- Care Component
- Have needed help with personal care for at least
3 months and - Be likely to go on needing this help for at least
another 6 months - Personal care means help with things such as
washing, dressing eating, getting to and using
the toilet - Needing supervision eg your medical needs, diet,
protect you from danger

- Unable or virtually unable to walk

12Attendance Allowance (AA)

- Be aged 65 or over and
- Be severely disabled either mentally or
physically and - Have needed care for at least 6 months or
- Be terminally ill and apply under the Special
Rules - Require help with bodily functions
- - frequently during the day or
- - at frequent intervals or for a long period
during the night
