- Aim To achieve recognition and currency for the
Diploma in Creative and Media, via focus on - Admissions and progression
- Development / utilisation of level 4 units to
provide bridging and stretch for level 3 learners - Collaborative delivery with consortia, including
sharing of resources - Support for consortia delivery, including CPD and
- curriculum design

progression illustrations - Presentations at events to facilitate engagement

5What is the Diploma?
- Designed by creative and media industry
practitioners and higher education - A new innovative qualification for 14-19 year
olds - Designed for young people of all abilities
offering different levels of achievement and
progression into a range of FE and HE - Will include both practical and theoretical
learning in a work related context applied
learning, NOT a vocational training programme - Will be an entitlement for all young people by
2013 - First teaching in September 2008

15Gateway 1 2008 delivery

- The Diploma is being delivered by 62 separate
consortia of schools, FE colleges, HEIs,
employers and industry training providers from
September 2008 - 12,000 learners enrolled
- 85 of HEIs have provided statements on their
acceptance of Diplomas to UCAS, at course level.
The majority will accept Diplomas, some
stipulating particular ASL requirements. -
16Gateway 2 delivery - 2009
- 144 additional consortia delivering the Diploma
in Creative and Media, from September 2009 - ¾ of secondary schools and 88 of colleges
- 79 universities involved with successful
consortia in Gateway 2. 108 in total are engaged
in Gateways 12 - 317 consortia in 136 local authorities
