Objectives
To develop a network about invasive species in
Ecuador which is related with networks of other
countries forming part of the Intermerican
Biodiversity Information Network (IABIN)

Introduction

• The invasive species is an actuality topic for
  governments in almost every country around the
  world.
• Invasive species is a high priority topic to
  research.
• Invasive species is a threat to the biological
  diversity.
• There is few information about invasive specues
  in Ecuador.

Previous Knowledge

• In Spanish conquer time was the main introducing
  phenomenon. Later these species became invasives.
  
• In 1879 the eucaliptus was introduced in
  Ecuador, this specie is considered like
  invasive.
• In the 70s the first studies about invasives
  species were done in Ecuador (introduced plants
  of Galápagos).
• The Biodiversity Convention included the
  invasive species topic like a high priority issue
  between the biological diversity conservation
  efforts.

• Invasive species is a high priority issue to be
  studied, monitored and followed.
• Invasive species issue in Galápagos is in
  advanced stage related to the mainland.
• It is needed to create, modify and strength a
  lawful frame to enforce the invasive species
  control.
• The risks and threats of invasive species has to
  be understood like a priority.
• Policies of prevention and reduction of invasive
  species impacts are needed to be stablished.
