- A good place to start when trying to decide what
to write about YOU! - What are your hobbies? Something unusual (like
underwater basket-weaving) could make for very
interesting writing. - Whats your major? What do you hope to do with
your degree? Why did you pick nursing rather
than, say, pharmacy? - What are your interests? For example, Im
interested in serial killers and forensics. ?
5Research FYI Finding Topics
- Whats your favorite TV show? What common themes
or issues does the show address? Use that for a
topic. If youre interested in the show Lost,
you could write about wormholes or the science
behind Lost. - Do you read the news? What news stories capture
your interest the most? Use that as a starting
point for a topic.
6Research FYI Finding Topics
- What kinds of books do you read? Maybe youre
into the Twilight series or Harry Potter. You
could analyze how vampires have been depicted in
literature, or compare the Harry Potter movies
with the books. - Whats your favorite movie? Like TV shows, what
kinds of issues or themes does the movie address?
7Research FYI - Topics
- Once youve settled on a topic, start a list of
ideas and words related to the topic. This will
get you started developing keywords that youll
use for searching. - Treat the list like a brainstorming session, too.
