Encampment Overview
  • Encampment is an 8-day, intensive leadership
    activity hosted annually by NY Wing.
  • Since 1994, encampment has been held at Fort Drum
    outside of Watertown, NY.
  • This year, it is commanded by Capt Scott
    G. Ullery, CAP and will take place from 24 July
    01 August.

Goals of Encampment
  • Per CAPR 52-16, Cadet Program Management,
    encampment will provide members the opportunity
    to
  • Apply knowledge gained in the cadet and senior
    programs to practical situations
  • Develop a greater understanding of CAP and Air
    Force missions and capabilities.
  • Develop their leadership potential.
  • Enhance interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Develop Time-Management skills.

What to expect
  • From the moment you arrive, someone will be
    telling you what to do.
  • As soon as you in-process, you will be assigned
    to your flight, so make sure youve got any
    last-minute shopping done prior to signing in.
  • Once in-processed, cadets will not be allowed to
    call home unless an emergency situation arises.

  • When you arrive, you cant wait to go homeby the
    end you want to stay.

What to bring
  • A complete equipment list will be provided in
    your welcoming packet
  • Major expenditures
  • Two complete sets of BDUs
  • One compete set of Blues (short-sleeve)
  • White sheets, dark, solid-color blanket
  • Socks, underwear, T-shirts for 8 days
  • Laundry facility is available, but dont rely on
    it

What to bring
  • Other essentials
  • Toiletries (shampoo, soap, toothpaste
    toothbrush, deodorant)
  • Two sets of PT gear
  • Civilian clothes (nice jeans, Dockers)
  • Encampment T-shirt will be provided, which cadets
    will wear to the cadet social
  • BOOTS, SHOES AND SNEAKERS SHOULD ALREADY BE
    BROKEN IN!!!
  • Blisters are nobodys friend

What NOT to bring
  • Knives, multi-tools, scissors
  • Exception, a small pair of scissors may be
    included in a sewing kit if you choose to bring
    one
  • Medications, other than Rx
  • Prescription medications should be listed on
    cadets NYWF 31, and checked-in upon arrival

Graduation/Pass in Review
  • Sunday, 01 August at 1000am. Location is
    McGrath Field
  • Map will be provided
  • All are encouraged to attend, ceremony lasts
    approx. one hour
  • Cadets will out-process immediately following,
    lunch will not be served on Sunday for in-flight
    cadets
