  • Kristallnacht, meaning Night of Broken Glass
gets its name after the shattered window glass
from Jewish shops and homes that was scattered on
    the streets.
  • Kristallnacht is thought to have been the
    starting point of the Holocaust.
  • On this night alone, about 300,000 Jews were
    taken to concentration/death camps.

In the Ghettos
  • The first solution to get rid of the non-Aryan
population was to deport them into ghettos.
  • Ghettos were small sections of a town
excommunicated from the rest of the world by
barbed wire and armed SS officers.
  • In some cases, shelter was not provided, so
either you build your own or freeze to death.

The Final Solution
  • Nazi Germany used work camps and death camps as a
way to ultimately embarrass and exterminate the
    Jews and their culture.
  • In these concentration/death camps alone, over
three million (yes, that would be 3,000,000) Jews
and other non-Aryans were mass exterminated in
    the most brutal ways.
  • Industrialized death was achieved mainly by
    enormous gas chambers.
