Title: 1. dia
1WP5 at the midterm meeting András Borbély, ELTE
- What has been done
- Development of reconstruction software for the
3DXRD method - Indexing
- Refinement (low resolution reconstruction)
- High resolution reconstruction
- Application to a model structure
- Application to the real material (Al-0.5Mg)
- Software development for the evaluation of
experimental data
2Deliverables
- Low and high resolution 3D-reconstruction of the
initial state (M9). - Ex situ and in situ deformation, evaluation of
dislocation densities (M18). - None of them could be produced!
3 3DXRD microscopy
- E. M. Lauridsen, S. Schmidt, R. M. Suter and H.
F. Poulsen, J. Appl. Cryst. (2001) 34.
4- Indexing
- Identification of Sensicam spots
- Reconstruction
(x,y)
Sensicam (1.3 ?m)
Frelon, low resolution detector (50 ?m)
5A measure for the goodness of reconstructed
parameters, output of indexing
6How large is the error of the experimental data?
7How large is the error of grain centers?
8Model structure, best possible reconstruction
(5?m)
y ?m
FOM 0.96
x ?m
9No additional error. Indexing based on Frelon
No additional error. Indexing based on Sensicam

10The influence of errors

FOM 0.90
FOM 0.54
11Plan for the next 6 months
- Software development for high resolution peak
identification - New indexing software with high resolution data,
considering all 5 parameters - (2-position, 3-orientation)
12Deliverables to be produced
- Reconstruction of the 3D structure layer-by-layer
(probably not easy, due to the absence of
publications containing such reconstructions) - Evolution of dislocation density in plane-strain
compressed samples. Comparison between in situ
and statistical evaluations. (Availability of
ESRF for the in situ measurement)
