  • At Miami all in-state students qualify for the
    Ohio Leader and Ohio Resident Scholarships. In
    order to be considered for an increased amount
    students must complete the FAFSA by February
    15th.

  • Complete Free Application for Federal Student Aid
    (FAFSA)
  • Preferably complete this form online for faster
    processing. www.fafsa.ed.gov
  • Only U.S. citizens and permanent residents are
    eligible for aid from the FAFSA.

  • At Miami you must complete the FAFSA prior to
    February 15th to be considered for all aid.

  • We recommend everyone complete the FAFSA even if
    you think your family does not have need.
    Different universities have different standards
    for determining need.
  • If you do not complete the FAFSA you will
    automatically get the lowest Ohio Leader
    Scholarship.
  • If you complete the FAFSA after February 15th you
    will not be considered for an increased Ohio
    Leader Scholarship.

  • How to Apply
  • Have your parent and yourself sign electronically
    with a federal PIN (personal identification
    number). Apply for a PIN at www.pin.ed.gov

  • Check with each university you plan on applying
    to in order to find out any special scholarship
    applications.
  • At Miami, all students who apply to the
    university prior to Jan. 31st and who are
    admitted are automatically considered for general
    scholarships. No separate application is
    required.

  • Work with your high school guidance counselor on
    scholarship opportunities available through your
    high school and community.

  • Work with organizations you and your parents are
    associated with to see if scholarship
    opportunities are available. Examples include
    churches, clubs, places of employment.

  • Once you receive your financial aid award letter
    from the university you will then need to decide
    if you want to/need to borrow a loan. Different
    universities will have different processes for
    applying.

  • Different universities have different deadlines
    for the completion of the FAFSA. Make sure you
    know the deadline for each school you are
    applying to.
  • Miamis deadline is February 15th!!!

  • There may also be scholarship deadlines that are
    prior to the admission deadline or FAFSA
    deadline.
  • Be sure to check with each university to see if
    they have any special filing deadlines

  • To be considered for the Harrison Scholarship
    (full tuition, fees, room board) at Miami you
    must fill out a separate application by Nov. 1st
    and apply to the university by this date as well.

  • All students who apply for the Harrison are also
    automatically considered for the University
    Honors program. If you dont apply for the
    Harrison you can still fill out an Honors
    application before Jan. 31st.

    scholarship applications and deadlines!
