Oregon State University Blood Drives
  • Consists of three large blood drives November,
    February, and May.
  • Each drive brings in 800-950 units of blood over
    a four day period, with well over 1,000 people
    supporting the drive.
  • Also includes smaller drives such as a Summer
    drive and a Faculty drive.

This week-
  • Increasing goals each day
  • Monday- Goal of 160 units (Actual 184)
  • Tuesday- Goal of 240 (Actual __ )
  • Wednesday- Goal of 250
  • Thursday- Goal of 280

Reason for high donations-
  • The Community!
  • People donate together, you almost always have a
    friend around in some part of the process!
  • Groups make it a team effort to come down (work
    groups, living groups, clubs)
  • Makes an ideal opportunity for first time donors!

  • To assist in the massive volunteer operations,
    the student group OSU Blood Drive Association
    provides support to the Red Cross various steps
    in making this drive a reality.
  • The group manages nearly 80 volunteers each
    drive, all the way from publicity to recapping
    and evaluating drive performances.
  • The Association has nearly 30 active members,
    representing a bulk of the volunteer efforts.

  • Visits to Houses and Res Halls.

  • Visits to football games.

  • Sno-Cones in the Quad.

A little friendly competition
  • In addition to the fall civil war drive-
  • Greek Competition
  • Residence Hall Competition
  • Contributions from the community supply prizes
  • Includes both volunteer hours and donors
  • Working on developing-
  • Cooperatives
  • ROTC

Education
  • As a student organization, has a responsibility
    to educate and inform the community.
  • Each year a group of students is taken to the
    Portland headquarters and the Portland national
    testing lab.
  • In addition, developing partnerships with other
    groups to improve cooperation.

Smaller Drives
  • Summer Drive
  • Typically two days, with a goal of 92 units per
    day (two buses).
  • Faculty Drive
  • New project, opportunity for staff and faculty to
    get a quiet and faster donation experience.
