Delta

• A low, watery land formed at the mouth of a
  river.
• It is formed from the silt, sand and small rocks
  that flow downstream in the river and are
  deposited in the delta.
• A delta is often (but not always) shaped like a
  triangle (hence its name, delta, a Greek letter
  that is shaped like a triangle).

Runoff

• Water that does not get soaked into the ground
  when it rains, which pools and eventually 'runs'
  into other bodies of water.

Deposition

• The process by which material is eroded by water,
  wind, waves, or ice and are dropped into a new
  place.

Barriers

• Materials that help slow down erosion.

Sediment

• Pieces of rocks, soil, sand, shell and remains of
  organisms.

• The carrying away of materials from one place to
  another by wind, water, waves, or ice.

Weathering

• The breaking down and wearing away of rock
  material.

• A large body of moving ice.

• Moving air.

• Water that falls to the surface of the Earth such
  as rain, hail, sleet, or snow.

Carbon dioxide - Oxygen Cycle

• The process by which carbon and oxygen cycle
  among plants, animals, and the environment.

• Rings located in the center of a trees trunk.
  They tell the age and environmental conditions
  from present to past.

• A continuous process that repeats over and over.

Erosion

• The carrying away of materials from one place to
  another by wind, water, or ice.

• No longer in existence.

Fossils

• The remains of any organism from the past.

Igneous rock

• Are formed from cooled magma. Magma is melted
  rock deep inside the Earth. Magma on the crust is
  called molten lava.

Metamorphic rock

• A result from heat and pressure applied to
  sedimentary or igneous rocks.

Sedimentary rock

• Rocks that formed from the compacting of
  sediments.
• Are formed as sediments are pushed together or
  cemented by the weight of the water and layers of
  sediment above it.
