- Simple activation.
- Recommend NOT forwarding student e-mail to
another account. - If you are having problems with your e-mail,
contact us. - Dont allow it to go dormant.
4E-mail Policy
- Washburn University provides each student with an
e-mail account. - Washburn Faculty, Staff, Administration and
Finance all use the Washburn e-mail account as a
primary means of communication with law students,
so it is critical that law students regularly
check their Washburn account. - E-mail messages sent to your Washburn University
e-mail address will be considered your official
notification for important information.
5Reasons to use Washburn E-mail
- Encourage use of Washburn accounts to prevent
spread of viruses - Prevent loss of messages due to forwarding
- Campus ISS does not support non-Washburn accounts
6E-mail Details
- You have 15 MB storage.
- Pictures and other multimedia consume excessive
memory- consider archiving them elsewhere. - Maximum size of attachments 8 MB.
- If you go over storage quota, your account is
disabled. - Visit the library computer help desk or call
670-1776 for help.
7E-mail Trash Folder
- E-mail default setting saves your deleted mail in
the trash folder and quickly fills up your
mailbox - Change the Settings so that the trash folder will
empty each time you logout

9Resetting Password
- Go to http//my.washburn.edu and reset your
password.
An activation guide can be found at the bottom of
the my.washburn screen.

11Washburn iCard
- This card has the iCard number that you need to
activate your e-mail account and access
electronic resources. - Money for copiers and other goodies can be added
to this card at the card value center next to
the Reference Desk on the 2nd floor of the
library. - Used for checking out books at circulation desk.
- Off-campus discounts.

- All formal communications from the Deans Office

- Washburn wireless is run on the 802.11b/g
standard (2.4 ghz). - Should be less then 100.

- You must have automatic updates turned on in
Windows XP. - You must have commercial quality virus
protection. We recommend eTrust. - Do NOT leave it unattended anywhere!

- Virtual drive that allows you to open and edit
server-based files without the additional
download step.
23- Why use LAW DRIVE?
- 1. Accessing files from home is easy. Simply set
up Law Drive on your work machine and your home
computer. - 2. To backup important documents. Each student is
allocated 64 MB of storage space. We encourage
you to back up important documents first.
24Saving documents to the server is as easy as
using the Save As function in any Windows
application. You dont have to use an FTP program
to move your documents to the server.

Windows to operate. Getting Started - 1. If you dont have your Unix account, go to the
Computer Center Help Desk Window, Room 100
Bennett Hall, to get your username and password.
This is required to log onto the server. Your
Washburn ID card is required to get this username
and password. - 2. Download LAW DRIVE from the Washburn School of

- Printing costs the law school close to 20,000
per year. - Printing is free to law students. Lets keep it
that way! - Avoid excessive and unnecessary printing.
- Printers default to duplex (double-sided).
- Please dont take blank printer paper!
- LexisNexis and Westlaw have their own printers
and paper.
