Battle for Truth
  • Col 28-10 (Pew Bible page 834)
  • Part 1 of 2

Pastor Dave Martin Cross Creek Community Church
Nov 25, 2007

  • Colossians 26-10 6 So then, just as you received
Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, 7
rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the
faith as you were taught, and overflowing with
thankfulness. 8 See to it that no one takes you
captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy,
which depends on human tradition and the basic
principles of this world rather than on Christ. 9
For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives
in bodily form, 10 and you have been given
fullness in Christ, who is the head over every
    power and authority.

interpreting life, evaluating truth, and making
    decisions.
  • Man cannot begin with himself and arrive at
    ultimate reality
  • "A world view provides a model of the world which
guides its adherents in the world."

5
  • Everyone has a Worldview

(Ranges from Humanistic to Biblical)
6
I. The Big Lie
  • Secular Humanist Worldview

(The general consensus today)
7
What went wrong? Truth Rejected.
  • 1. Exchanged the Glory of God for Images.
  • Romans 122-23 Although they claimed to be wise,
they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of
the immortal God for images made to look like
mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.

8
What went wrong? Truth Rejected.
  • 2. Exchanged the Truth of God for Lies.
  • Romans 125 They exchanged the truth of God for a
lie, and worshiped and served created things
rather than the Creator--who is forever praised.
    Amen.

9
A. Thought Process
  • There is no Absolute Moral Truth (No Right or
Wrong, as in Gods Word the Bible)
  • Belief in Situation Ethics / Relativism
    (changeable standards)
  • Lacking Real Meaning and Purpose in Life
  • No Creator or Ultimate Authority (God)

is he.

Whats behind it all?
  • The World System
  • Gods enemy the Devil
  • Mans natural sinful character
  • Luke 45-7 5 The devil led him up to a high place
and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of
the world. 6 And he said to him, "I will give you
all their authority and splendor, for it has been
given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want

Whats the Remedy? Embrace the Truth of Gods
Word.
  • John 831-32 31 To the Jews who had believed him,
