PRIMARY CCC FS CAMPUS FIRE SERVICES
RESPONSIBILITIES

• Liaison
• Serve as a liaison between the campus and the
  Champaign and the Urbana fire departments.
• Building Inspection Program
• Coordinate fire safety inspections of housing
  units other campus buildings by the Champaign
  and Urbana Fire Departments

OTHER INSPECTIONS

• Perform and coordinate fire safety inspections on
  campus including
• Inspections of scenery/sets for theatrical
  productions
• Follow-up of fire department building inspections
  concerns by campus population
• Inspect approve use of large tents for special
  events (i.e. barbeques, open house food tents,
  etc.)

FIRE ALARM / FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM INSPECTION
and TESTING

• Participate in acceptance testing of new fire
  protection systems
• Coordinate annual inspection and testing of
  existing fire alarm, fire pump, and fire
  suppression systems

FIRE EXTINGUISHER PROGRAM

• Manage annual inspection, testing, and
  maintenance of campus fire extinguishers
• Evaluate proper type and placement of fire
  extinguishers for new existing campus buildings

FIRE SAFETY CONSULTATION

• Provides consultation services for any issue
  related to fire safety
• Fire safety advice for campus events
• Exit /egress questions
• Occupant load designation

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

• Work with the Office of Campus Emergency Planning
  and fire departments to assist campus units in
  preparation of tornado and all-hazard emergency
  plans

TRAINING/PUBLIC EDUCATION

• Coordinate the presentation of fire safety
  training and education to the campus population
  by the Champaign and Urbana fire departments and
  CCC FS Staff

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Encourage fire exit drills training in campus
  facilities
• Evaluate requests for and approve temporary fire
  protection systems outages
• Participate on campus Special Events Committee

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Monitor fire department familiarization tours of
  campus buildings
• Track fire related incidents on campus

• Follow-up with campus units after fire related
  incidents

Business Unit Interaction

• Consultation on code issues for planned
  alternations (e.g. clean rooms, special hazards,
  new labs)
• Infrastructure improvement projects (e.g. exits,
  sprinkler, and alarm projects)
• Extinguisher coverage modifications
• Deferred maintenance projects
• Consultation on life safety concerns
