homeless, drug users and prostitutes, migrants
who come from certain countries)

and HIV/aids (telephone number with information
in 5 languages, prevention projects). - Telephone number with information for travellers.

Environment
- Research and advice for private individuals for
example about problems inside homes (damp,
asbestos, Legionnaires disease), soil pollution
and air pollution. - Advice to governments about amongst others
dealing with disasters. - Healthy building and living.

- Checking the hygiene of amongst others day-care
centres, sex clubs and other such institutions.

Individual medical advice to municipal
departments, for facilities such as a parking
space for a disabled person or making adjustments
to a home.

Social medical aid to the homeless and people on
the edge of society. GGD coordinates aid and
care in case of odour nuisance and vermin (with
Roteb, Riagg, Police and Animal Protection

15Ambulance service as of 1 January 2003 separated
from GGD Rotterdam and environs
About 31,000 journeys per year in the work area
of the ambulance service of the GGD Rotterdam and
environs GHOR The GGD cooperates closely with
the Office for Medical Aid in case of Accidents
and Disasters (GHOR), for example Smallpox
Vaccination Plan in cooperation with other
Rijnmond GGDs).
