A beginning

• All verbs in Spanish must agree with the person
  doing the action
• It makes as little sense to the English speaker
  to say I are as it does to the Spanish speaker
  to say Yo hablas
• For this lesson we will be using verbs that end
  in ar

Who is doing the action?

• In English the subject pronouns are
• I
• You
• He, She
• We
• They and You (pl)

• In Spanish the subject pronouns are
• Yo
• Tú
• Él, Ella, Usted (Ud.)
• Nosotros
• Ellos, Ellas, Ustedes

The Endings

• For every person doing an action, the verb must
  also reflect who is doing the action.

• If I am doing the action the verb will end in o
• If you are doing the action the verb will end in

How it works

• The process for conjugation is the same for every
  verb.

• I first identify the verb.

• Next, I remove the ending.

• Then I identify the person doing the action (the
  subject) and add the appropriate ending for that
  person
