2What is going on?
- The OGC Markets Collaborative Procurement IT
hardware team are currently active in 5 main
areas - IT hardware e-Auction 10 Currently around 25

expected to rise upon clarification of the
lotting structure. - The DWP/OGCbs OJEU for Desktop Services. DWP and
OGCbs collaborating on having an outsource deal
that any public sector body can use. This
enabling the public sector body to avoid costly
OJEU procedures and take advantage of the work
done by OGCbs and DWP in reducing cost and
sharing best practice. Forum taking place 12th
February in London with interested stakeholders. - Central figure in the Information Assurance
discussions across government. - Active in all sustainability and power savings
projects delivering Green Money - Continual advice and best practice sharing across
the IT community
3March 2009 is a great time for an eAuction
The pound is still low against the dollar
- The IT hardware market is swinging in favour of
the buyer - In the Autumn of 2008 prices were rising. This
was due to rising commodity prices, and the
falling value of the pound against the dollar - But through the winter the world of IT hardware
sales has changed dramatically. - By March 2009 we expect that the main
manufacturers will have seen a significant fall
in sales to the Private Sector, especially
banking. - The Public Sector will be the only area with
serious money to spend - Late March is also an advantageous point in the
major vendors accounting cycles
1 buys.
But falling commodity prices mean lower costs for
vendors
Brent crude price
and hardware sales have dropped sharply
4We are already in a great position
- We have a cast of 1,000s
- A great deal of pre work has already been done to
get us to where we are today - No costs to you for participation

- Focus on the market and the economic impact of
the global downturn - Massive support to drive an outstanding IT
Hardware Procurement
5Drivers of success
- To enable you to reach the right result we need
- Flexibility sensible specifications, common
sense over how we evaluate, no fixation on the
badge IT Hardware is a commodity - Cooperation of the highest calibre between
Sourcing and IT managers and each other. North,
South, East and West we are all buying the same
thing even though we speak in different accents - Timeliness we have a plan to stick to. It is
your plan therefore you will need to complete
certain tasks by key dates - Professionalism we ask that you do not leak any
details to the suppliers involved in e-Auction
10 as this will seriously undermine our aims. - Ownership this is your procurement, so you will
need to be seen by the suppliers as the owner.
