2History
- Departments of Electrical Engineering (1964),
Applied Mathematics (1968) and Computer Sciences
(1981) merged five years ago in one faculty
EEMCS - The Dutch 5-years engineering programmes were
split into bachelor and master courses. - The courses in the masters programmes general
are in English
3Introduction
- There are Erasmus/Socrates exchange contracts so
students can study a semester in the partner
university - Some extra support, in all cases organisatorial
support
4Exchange
- Student has to select courses from other
university (UT) for one semester - This is mostly doing 6 courses of 5 credits each
- Courses have to be in English (practically)
5Offer of english spoken courses
- Presented are the master programmes, just
because all courses in the master programmes are
assured to be in english, so to find english
spoken courses, the database consists in fact of
the courses offered in the master programmes
6Organisation
- Agree on courses by own coordinator
- Organise own planning, stay, travel
- At UT there is an international office assisting
finding housing and also for support once you are
there - And.try to get sufficient marks
7Bachelor programmes
- Duration
- 3 years
- 180 credits
- Applied Mathematics
- Electrical Engineering
- Computer Science
- Telematics
8Master programmes
- Duration
- 2 years
- 120 credits
- Applied Mathematics
- Computer Science
- Electrical Engineering
- Embedded Systems
- Human Media Interaction
- Telematics
9ICT is everywhere around
- E-business
- SMS-message transportation
- Electronically paying
- Security, reliability, userfriendly
- Always and everywhere
10Applied Mathematics (AM)
- Modelling
- Analysing
- Simulations
- Implementation
11Tracks AM
12Computer Science (CS)
- Information gathering, editing, transport,
present, store - Development of suitable software and
computersystems - Smart solutions for complex problems
- Reliable and secure
13Example Searching on the internet
- Internet that big searching gets quite
complicated - Searching not only text, but pictures and sounds
find a picture of a Formule 1 race in Monaco
14Tracks Computer Science
- Information Systems Engineering
- Software Engineering
- Computer Security
15Telematics
- Information society is based on networks
- More users, higher demands, traffic jam
- Mobile and wireless, management and design
- Security
16MobiHealth systeem

17Electrical Engineering (EE)
- Microelectronics
- Nanotechnolgy
- Signalprocessing
- Telecommunication
- Embedded Systems
18Examples (EE)
- Example Design chip mobile phones. Building on
square centimeters - Lab-on-a-chip completely chemical lab on
creditcard
19International Education Faculty EEMCS
- The master programmes virtually cover all
modern science methods, techniques, concepts, and
insights.
20Studying one of the programmes
- learning to solve problems by manipulating
existing concepts and ideas, and by creating new
concepts - building (on a computer), purposefully designed
structures that show the intended behaviour - be able to acquire new knowledge very fast, and
you must disseminate your knowledge and skills
easily - communication, report writing and studying
technical literature are thoroughly addressed in
the courses.
