laws and school policies that accompany Internet

  • There are ways that we, the adults can help. We
can monitor our children and be involved in what
they are using the Internet for.

What is an AUP?
  • An AUP is a guideline that schools are required
to have in place in order to designate the proper
usage of computer networks to protect student
    safety.
  • It is a written agreement that must be signed by
the parent, teacher, and student, stating that
they understand the rules and regulations of the
    schools Internet policy.
  • Required by state and national education
    regulations

5
AUPs include
  • A statement about the advantages of using the
    Internet in schools
  • Code of Student conduct
  • School philosophy about Internet usage
  • Consequences of failure to follow AUP
  • Disclaimer that relieves the school of
    responsibility of students online actions
  • Place for signatures to express compliance

  • Parents - responsible for students actions
online both inside outside of school
  • Teachers-responsible for teaching students the
proper ways to use the Internet, as well as to
help monitor what types of sites their students
    are visiting.

    of conduct

Summary
