2What is SAM? Heres an overview

- Increase your companys Service Order (S.O.)
processing efficiency by posting orders in a
timely manner - Accurately post S.O. details to your switch (or
other provisioned equipment) eliminating the
possibility of human misinterpretation or entry
mistakes - Perform billing to switching equipment audit
verifications and report on exceptions

- Maintain a history of the S.O.s processed
- Produce a variety of detail and summary reports
- Log all provisioning conversation activity
6- A typical provisioning conversation consists of
- 1) An initial services query (if change/delete)
- 2) Posting the service order to your equipment
- A services verification query to ensure that the
order was posted properly

- Move the S.O. stage code forward in Billing based
on pass/fail/more-work conditions - Notify users of critical errors in S.O. posting

- S.O.s that are dependent upon other S.O.s
- Auto-correct S.O. entry mistakes. If the
provisioned equipment will accept what the S.O.
says should be done, SAM tries it.

- A direct ODBC SQL query of the database
- Or an API (Application Program Interface)
- Or as a last resort, a screen-scraping method
- The API method is the preferred approach
- It provides a fence that data is exchanged over
- We hand requests to our Billing neighbor
- Our Billing neighbor hands us data back
- SAM does not access the Billing files directly
- The Billing vendor doesnt access the SAM files
