Assessment procedures and criteria for
instructional and school administrators must be
primarily based on the performance of students
assigned to their classrooms or schools, as
appropriate.

3The Assessment
- Must be conducted for each employee yearly
- Must be based on educational principles and
contemporary research in effective educational
practices - The assessment must use data and indicators of
improvement in student performance assessed
annually as specified in statute 1008.22 - Student performance must be measured by state
assessments required under statute 1008.22 and by
local assessments for subjects and grade levels
not measured by the state assessment program

4The Assessment Criteria Must Include
- Performance of students
- Ability to maintain appropriate discipline
- Knowledge of subject matter (special provisions
should be followed for evaluating teachers who
are assigned to teach out-of-field) - Ability to plan and deliver instruction including
implementation of the middle grades (6,7,and 8)
Rigorous Reading Requirement pursuant to state
statute 1003.415 when applicable, and the use of
technology in the classroom

5- Ability to evaluate instructional needs
- Ability to establish and maintain a positive
collaborative relationship with students
families to increase student achievement - Other professional competencies,
responsibilities, and requirements as established
by rules of the state board of education and
policies of the district school board

the assessment process BEFORE the assessment
takes place!

- Phase I - within 80 working days (November 27,
2006) must schedule annual contract teachers and
tenured teachers whose birthdates fall within
April, May, or June for the first classroom
observation - Phase II within 121 working days (February 2nd,
2007) - Phase III - Complete summatives by April 30 and
submit to the teacher assessment division by May
4, 2007. - Review Cycle
- Unscheduled observation, instructional support
performance conference, development of success
plan (if needed), completion of summative with
conference prior to April 30, 2006 - submit to

16SUCCESS PLAN
If a teacher fails to meet expectation on the
Formative, Instructional Support Performance
Conference Form, or summative, a success plan
must be written.
Remember to take into account whether the teacher
is assigned to an out-of-field position.
Teachers should be offered staff development
opportunities, curriculum resources, and other
available assistance and support.
Always provide the teacher with the opportunity
to give input on the plan under activities,
resources for assistance and/or timelines!!

17ONLY ADDRESS THREE (3) AREAS PER PLAN
If the areas have different dates assigned in
Section G - remember to sign off and date each
one in Section H Both the administrator and
teacher sign date the plan when implemented and
when an area meets expectation!!!

18- If a success plan is written, observations,
conferences and coaching sessions should be
conducted throughout the comprehensive or review
cycle until improvement is achieved - If improvement is not achieved by April 30, the
summative should reflect the areas noted on the
success plan and be addressed on a new success
plan - Re-appointed annual contract teachers and tenured
teachers who do not successfully complete the
requirements on a success plan by the end of the
school year may be continued on that plan for the
following school year

school year unless you plan on re-appointing

success plan, indicate that additional assistance
is required and contact the appropriate

send e-mails or multiple names on one letter!
