Introduction

• Jan Matzeliger was born in Dutch Guiana in South
  America. His father was a Dutch engineer. His
  mom was born in Dutch Guiana and was an African.
• At an early age, Jan could repair many things
  including machinery
• He started working in a Shoe Factory
• He invented the shoe laster.

Invention

• He made the shoe laster better. People
  offered money as high as 1,500,00 .
• He decided to get investors but he had 66 of
  the invention.
• He got the patent in 1883 but at first no one
  believed he invented it.
• The shoe laster could make 700 shoes a day.

Life

• Jan Matzeliger would get sick and live a short
  time as he got tuberculosis in 1886 and died
  August 24, 1889 at the age of 37 years old.

• He was treated nice by his family.

How important was his Invention?

• His invention was so important because
  people liked it and because shoes were made
  faster and cheaper. Even his own dad would have
  liked it so much and his mother too.
