2Firm History
Located in Chicago, JRW Designs was established
in 1995 by leading architects LaKeisha Johnson,
Dawntaya Rodgers, and Zalika Williams. With the
realization that buildings need to respond to the
human condition first and finances second, their
partnership formed. The firm takes on a diverse
array of projects from educational to
residential, however, their main focus is on
Healthcare. JRW Designs recognizes the growing
need for updated medical facilities to handle the
increasing number of patients and new
technological advancements in the healthcare
industry.
3Firm Info
Our firm employs 75 architects, planners,
interior designers and engineers all with one
goal, to create a structure that will express the
needs of the clients. During the design
process JRW works heavily with the client as well
as provides extensive research through the use of
surveys, personal interviews and focus groups, to
receive the opinions of current and future
occupants of a facility. This process is
especially important when designing healthcare
facilities. We design for the flexibility and
movement of the doctors and nurses but also the
patients. Our goal is to create an environment
that is comfort and stress free for the patients
and their relatives, so their stay as pleasant as
possible.
