  • 3. Plan a schedule to accomplish priorities.
  • 4. Work your plan.
  • 5. Revise the plan when necessary.

  • Take time at the start of each day to focus on
    you.

  • At the beginning of your workday, plan the amount
    of time you expect to spend on each item.
  • Handle each piece of paper one time.
  • At the end of each workday, make a list of things
    to do the next day.
  • Schedule time in your week to follow-up on
    details of your work.
  • Record deadlines and appointments on your
    calendar.

  • Monitor your records and files throw out or
    store those used infrequently.

    meeting is most efficient).
  • Cluster your phone calls to sales people.
    Customer phone calls should be a priority.
  • Periodically review how you are spending your
    time.

  • For the next week, keep a detailed record of how
    you spend your time. During each day, write down
    the tasks you work on and how much time you spend
    on them.
  • Keep the list of your top priorities you named in
    It's Time for What's Important. Compare your
    daily record to your priority list.
  • Revise your schedule to ensure that your daily
    work time is spent on those things which are most
    important for your work, and hopefully for you,
    too.
