Title: Detective Story
1Detective Story
2 Rise and shine Jackson, Mrs Parr tells me that
there is a woman down stairs who needs our help
exclaimed Detective J.Major. You are an early
bird arent you, groaned Detective M.Jackson as
he rolled out of the hotel bed. After a quick
wash Jackson threw on his clothes and headed
downstairs to find Major.
3 Oh, there you are Jackson, meet Mrs Brown said
Major. Jackson realised that Mrs Brown had a
very white face and tears were rolling down her
cheeks, she was obviously very upset. My
Father and sister are missing and have been for
several days, sobbed Mrs Brown The last time I
saw them was 3 days ago. My Father was going to
an Opera at the Globe Theatre and my sister was
taking the same taxi as him. I have tried ringing
them and going to their house but theres no sign
of them.
4 Could we go and have a look? asked Major as
Jackson arrived. I have been in myself but
maybe you should have a look replied Mrs
Brown. Ok then, I suppose wed better get going
then said Jackson wondering what this case held
for him.
5 Thirty-three minutes and twenty-seven seconds
later (Jackson liked timing car journeys) they
arrived. As they walked in the door, they
realised there was a postcard from Mrs Browns
sister clearly showing that she was still alive.
Mrs Brown was overjoyed. Jackson murmured to
Major Do you really think there is a
case? Im not sure, but we may as well have a
look around since we are here replied Major
quietly. Jackson and Major wanted to look at her
Fathers personal belongings, so they asked Mrs
Brown where her Fathers study was. When they
walked into the study, they immediately noticed a
crumpled bit of paper in the middle of the desk.
Major carefully unfolded the paper with a pair of
tweezers, to preserve any DNA traces. The letter
read
6I have several instructions for you 1. Meet me
in the alley behind the opera house at
1000pm. 2. Bring the package. 3. Dont tell
anyone. 4. And dont be late or else
7 As he put it in the evidence bag, Major said
Wed better get this off to the testing
lab. How about we check out the alley asked
Jackson wondering whether he would reply. Yes,
good idea Jackson replied Major.
8 Fifty-two minutes and forty- three seconds later
Jackson was timing again they arrived at the
alley. The first thing they saw was a small bit
of golden material coming from behind a bin. It
turned out, it was a shoe lace. The shoe had a
metal strip round the heel and patches of dark
green leather. I recognise that shoe, it was
my Fathers exboss shoe, theyre very
distinctive explained Mrs Brown They fell out,
but I dont know why she continued. Once again
Major put the object carefully into the evidence
bag, meanwhile Mrs Brown walked further down the
alley. Suddenly Major and Jackson heard her
scream, they ran over to her. FATHER!!!
shrieked Mrs Brown. Major and Jackson saw a body
on the floor, with a dagger in its back.
Immediately Major phoned forensics to remove the
body.
9 We need to find this exboss, any ideas what he
is called or where he lives? asked Major ready
to write down details. Yes, J. Hammond and he
lives at Number 81, green lame said Mrs Brown
angrily. After forensics had dealt with the
body and Mrs Brown had been taken home, Major and
Jackson set off for Green Lane. 17 minutes and 31
seconds later (!) they were searching for number
81. 75.77.79.81 and here we are said
Jackson. They rang the bell and the door was
opened by a short, stout man with long side burns.
10 Mr .J. Hammond? asked Jackson Yes, thats my
name. Said the short stout man wondering what
they wanted and how they knew his name. Can we
come in? asked Major Hmmm.ok replied
Mr.Hammond. As soon as they went through the door
they noticed a cabinet full of knives and
daggers. There was a single dagger which
matched the one in Mrs Browns Fathers back-
with an empty space next to it. Youre under
arrest for the murder of Mr.Smith exclaimed
Major.s
11The End.
