How it all started

• Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard founded Hp in 1939.
• Both were Stanford University engineering
  graduates who became close friends on a camping
  trip after graduation.
• Fred Turman, a mentor and professor, encouraged
  the two to start a business for themselves.
• The two men made their partnership final in 1939
  by deciding the name of the company with the toss
  of a coin.
• Hps first product was the 200A audio oscillator
  which was used to test sound equipment. Eight
  model 200B oscillators were ordered by Walt
  Disney to develop Fantasia.

• There are over 4,500 employees worldwide
• Logitech originated in the OEM sector, which is
  the reason for its success. Due to high demands
  in this sector, Logitech excels in

• Worldwide distribution and logistics
• The ability to leverage its infrastructure under
  changing demand conditions

  Playstation 2.

What is Red Hat?

• Red Hat is the leader in development and
  management of Linux and largest provider of open
  source technology.
• Open source- is used instead of using software
  made by one company with controls the codes,
  charges customers to use it, and charges them to
  fix.
• Open source is software in which the customer
  takes control. It is where the code is open,
  everyone can modify it, and learn from it.
• Red Hat believes that Open Source creates better
  software. Open Source is offered to customers via
  the internet platform called the Red Hat Network.
• Red Hat solutions is a combination of Red Hat
  Linux, developer and imbedded technologies,
  training, management services, and technical
  support.

More Information

• Red Hat was founded in 1994 by Bob Young and Marc
  Ewing.
• Linux was created in 1991 by Linus Torvoalds, who
  wanted to create an operating system for his own
  use based on Unix. He mad his os available on the
  internet using open source technologies.
• Because of Red Hat Linux was cheap and stable it
  became popular.
• Linux and Red Hat Linux are different. Linux is
  pieced together by you, while Red Hat Linux is
  pieced together by Red Hat engineers all the
  while using open source to build the best product.
