The Kingdom of God

• Must be within us
• Must reflect that God is reigning in our hearts
• The Holiness of God reigning in us
• The Character of God reigning in us
• Mercy is characteristic of God
• Holiness is characteristic of God
• How can the kingdom of God be in us without these
  characteristics?

Blessed are the Merciful

• Forgiveness is an extension of mercy
• The BLESSED have learned from God their NEED for
  mercy
• The BLESSED have learned that all convicted
  sinners need mercy
• The Blessed have learned from the Father how to
  extend mercy to convicted sinners

The Man Who Wanted Mercy

• NEEDED Mercy from His Superior
• Was Not Excusing His Past Behavior that Created
  the Enormous Offense Against His Master
• Was Not Asking for INJUSTICE
• But MERCY works with Justice
• A Totally Merciless Justice System Is Not A GOOD
  System

The Man Got More Mercy Than Deserved

• This showed the GOODNESS of His Masters
  Character
• This Goodness was not EARNED
• Not of works lest any man should boast
• Obtaining Such Great Mercy Should Have Made the
  Greatest Impression
• Forgetting Such Mercy So Easily Is Very
  Troublesome to the Master

The Wicked Steward

• Did not truly appreciate his own forgiven state
• Forgot how valuable that mercy was in his case
• Demanded merciless-justice for lesser crimes than
  his own
• Was punished with merciless-justice for his own
  merciless-justice disposition

This Kingdom Teaching

• Kingdom subjects know how important it is to BE
  forgiven
• Therefore Kingdom subjects learn to be like their
  merciful Judge
• Forgiveness is our very first lesson that changes
  us in character
• Forgiveness is etched into our character

• If a person broke your pencil by mistake or
  accident.
• Which is More Important?
• The pencil?
• Your friendship?
• Justice without mercy?
• Mercy within your character?
• Mercy for the one begging your patience?
