  Associated Countries

• (e.g. even a Chinese researcher from the
  United States can join the teams in this program)

CAPACITIES-Research Infrastructures

• Research Infrastructures, play an increasing role
  in the advancement of knowledge and technology
  and their exploitation
• The activities to be supported are identified
  under three main lines of Actions
• 1) Support to existing research infrastructures
• Integrating Activities
• e-Infrastructures
• 2) Support to new research infrastructures (or
  major upgrades of existing ones)
• Design Studies
• Construction of new infrastructures
• 3) Support for policy development and programme
  implementation, including support to emerging
  needs

• Research for SMEs
• Strengthening the innovation capacity of European
  SMEs and their contribution to the development of
  new technology based products and markets by
  helping them outsource research, increase their
  research efforts, extend their networks, better
  exploit research results and acquire
  technological know how, bridging the gap between
  research and innovation.
• Research for SME associations
• Research for SME associations supports SME
  associations to develop technical solutions to
  problems common ?to a large number of SMEs in
  specific industrial sectors or segments of the
  value chain? through research
• Coordination and Support Activity
• Support to dissemination and exploitation of
  research results and exchange of good practices
• Contributing to the identification of priority
  research topics for SME associations, especially
  by establishing a dialogue with ETPs

• To be supported under this programme should be a
  member of Convergence regions formerly defined

• To improve research potential of convergence
  regions to make use of all reserach potential in
  these regions
• To improve the capacities of researchers in these
  regions to make them able to work in
  European-level research activities
• Activities to improve equipmnet, researchers
  capacity and networking activities are funded

• Aim With a view to building an effective and
  democratic European knowledge-based society, the
  aim is to stimulate the harmonious integration of
  scientific and technological endeavour and
  associated research policies into European
  society
• Science in Society will be implemented through
  4 sub-parts

  society relationship
• Strengthening potential, broadening horizons
• Science and society communicate

• Initiatives

• Cooperation between Member States and associated

• Support to the Coherent Development of Research

• to increase the effectiveness and coherence of

  improve the impact of public research and its
  links with industry.
