Summary
  • Languages change with the time, as the
society changes, language changes as well.
Nowadays, people accept politically correct (or
PC) language. These languages are more respectful
than the languages we used to use. For example, a
waiter or a waitress now prefers to be called
    a server.

3
  • PC English goes beyond gender. It also
includes issues of race and disabilities. For
example, a person with a disability sounds
better than handicapped. If we dont want to
offend others, its best to try to avoid the
    words that are non-PC.

Reflection
  • Politically Correct English is commonly
used nowadays. It not only includes the issues of
gender but also race and disabilities. That is
why many English words have been replaced by more
    polite and respectful ones.

5
  • Lets take some examples the person who
puts off the fire is called firefighter instead
of fireman. When we see a black walks on the
road, we had better call him or her
African-American. Otherwise, he or she may feel
offended. Moreover, a person with a visual
disability is much better than a blind.

6
  • As society changes, so does our language.
Although, PC English is a little complicated,
its the best way to make language more
    respectful to all people.
