Biography
  • Mardelle was born on February 21, 1932. Reid
    Hopkins and Mae Myers Hopkins were her parents.
    She doesnt have any brothers or sisters. She
    lived on a farm, and there was lots of farm work
    to do. When she was growing up the entertainment
    was ball.

Major Events
  • In 1932 Amelia Earhart became the first women
    to fly across the Atlantic. In 1935 Earhart flew
    from Hawaii to California the first person to
    make such a flight. In 1937 Amelia planned to fly
    around the world. In 1939 The New York world fair
    was called The World of Tomorrow. This exposition
    presented a vision of fabulous future life of
    ease and prosperity and the Wizard of Oz came
    out. In 1940 the New Deal begins. In 1941 Japan
    attacks Pearl Harbor. In 1942 More than 3 million
    Americans were drafted. In 1944 D day invasion
    succeeds. In 1945 World War II ends. In 1949 NATO
    is founded. In 1950 Television sales reach nearly
    100,000 per week. In 1951 The Korean War
    continues. In 1961 Brown vs. Board of Education
    of Topeka case. In 1971 The Soviet Union launches
    sputnik. In 1981 more than 500,000 United States
    in troops in Vietnam. In 1991 United States
    astronauts land on the moon. In 2001 United
    States and Soviet leaders work to end the cold
    War.

Describe what it was like growing up.
  • I lived on a farm and there were lots of farm
    work to do. Along with going to school which I
    might say I walked a mile to school in the 2nd
    grade and the next year I went to a different
    school and rode a horse 3 miles to school.

  • I was on the girls basketball team we played a
    lot so that was my fun thing to do.

you have growing up.
  • I remember we had really nice neighbors and
    we would visit each other.

  • I learned that there were lots of interesting
