Fund T-053-CPTE. Cheque may be post-dated to Mar.
1/08). Courses are subject to cancellation if
minimum number of applicants are not received by
Mar. 21/08. In this case, a full refund will be
provided. Refund for withdrawal from the course
shall be subject to date of notification of
withdrawal. If notification of withdrawal is
received by the course committee prior to 100pm
on Mar.21/08, a handling fee of 30.00 will be
with held on all refunds. If notification of
withdrawal is received after that time, the
participant will not be refunded unless the
position can be filled. Even if the course has
been confirmed, CPDC is not responsible for
travel/accommodation costs booked in advance, in
the event of sudden unavoidable cancellation of
the course (i.e.. Instructor illness, Acts of
God).

    registration form and fee).
  • This course may contain lectures, discussion,
    demonstrations and practical components where you
    could be asked to act as a model for the
    instructor, assistant or for fellow participants
    during the course. Acting as a model could
    involve following instructions, undergoing
    assessment evaluation, and/or treatment
    procedures. Signing below indicates that you
    have given consent to full participation in the
    course, including acting as a model for
    demonstrations and practical sessions. However,
    if at any time you feel uncomfortable or wish to
    refuse to participate, you must inform the
    instructors immediately.
  • Course Objectives
  • Have a working knowledge of anatomy and
    physiology relevant to the respiratory system.
  • Be able to perform a basic respiratory
    examination.
  • Have a basic understanding of and be able to
    perform common respiratory treatment techniques.
  • Have a working knowledge of common respiratory
    conditions including chronic obstructive
    pulmonary disease (COPD), Cystic Fibrosis (CF)
    and other common causes of dyspnea.
  • Course Instructors
  • Course sessions will be led by physiotherapists
    and other multidisciplinary team members with
    expertise in treating patients with respiratory
    conditions.

Course Overview This course will provide
physiotherapy assistants with the fundamentals of
care for the respiratory patient in both acute
and non acute settings. Emphasis will be placed
on basic respiratory knowledge, examination and
treatment skills required for effective practice
through a mix of lecture and lab components.
