- Background
- In 2005, the communities within the Northern
Community Area were asked how they would like to
see their communities improved. - These responses were
- fed into the 2005-2015
- Community Plan which
- was delivered to every
- home in the community
- area.

The issues where you asked for improvement
in 2005 were grouped into
10NCAP Action Plan Care for the Elderly drawn up
2006 Fact-finding meeting has been held
attended by PCT, Social Services, North Wilts
Carers and Age Concern WCC Childrens Services
reviewed and restructured
Progress to Date
Various Partnership Meetings involving talks by
Swindon Community Forest and WWT
Plus many more Improvements
HEALTH SOCIAL CARE
Area 2 funding for refurbishment work to
community and parish halls throughout area
Lyneham, Broad Town, Lydiard Millicent, Purton,
Cricklade, Tockenham, Wootton Bassett
ENVIRONMENT, LAND BASED ISSUES COUNTRYSIDE
RECREATION, CULTURE LEISURE
North Wilts record above that in other parts but
could be improved credit crunch has hit
construction industry

Expansion occurred in Bradon Forest (Purton)
NCAP facilitated discussions Wootton

Meetings between residents and Youths regarding
Purton Youth Club
Fines have been given in LM speed limits have
been introduced and enforced by Police Speed

- With the Unitary Authority taking shape during
the past year and coming into being in April this
year, time for a review of the Community Plan - Necessary to maintain fit-for-purpose
- A refreshing rather than a
- complete re-write

- Used a number of innovative approaches to gain
current community feelings and tried to improve
upon the 2005 surveys approach - 11 of questionnaires were received from hard
to reach communities

The questionnaire simply asked what you liked
about your community and what you would like to
see improved. Approx 200 were returned

Conclusions Many positive actions have been put
in place Asking Hard-to-Reach communities has
highlighted their priorities Even though we are
experiencing an economic downturn, not
significantly reflected in the results The
Community Plan (2009 2015) update is currently
being refreshed

- currently being refreshed a joint
collaboration - between NCAP and Area Board
- NCAP will provide an annual report to the Area
- Board (at its AGM) and this will include a
review - of Community Plan progress (including
obstacles - affecting progress)
