Instructions to put material on student intranet

• Logging on
• Dont use your own username and password today.
• We will provide you with a special username and
  password for this session

Finding Sintranet

• Click on Start
• Go to Find
• Click on Find Computer
• In the box, type Sintranet
• Click Find Now
• Click on Sintranet in the box below
• Click on File Server folder
• Double Click on your module folder

Creating your own folders

• Click on file
• Select New
• Select Folder
• Click , to produce new folder
• The University is trying to ensure that there is
  a folder for every module
• Are there folders for the modules that you
  coordinate?

Using Windows Explorer

• Dont close anything!
• Click on Start
• Click on Programs
• Select Windows NT Explorer and Click
• Select and click your 3.5 inch floppy
• Drag and drop the file you want into your folder
  on the Student Intranet
• Alternatively create a short powerpoint
  presentation and then practice copying it

Have a look at the Student View

• Save any work to the Intranet, or disk
• Log off and log in again using fafl /
• Open Internet Explorer
• Open http//student.brighton.ac.uk/
• Locate the Teaching Materials Folder for your
  school.
• You will need to use your normal username and
  password to access this folder
• Check that your folder and files are there.
• Do they open when you select them?

• Have a look at the range of files/materials on
  the student intranet.
• What do you consider to be examples of good
  practice and why?
• What do you notice about running powerpoint from
  the student intranet?
• Create folders for your modules, using the module
  code and module title
