Scenario
  • A ball is lying in a field completely
    still, all of a sudden a big gust of wind pushes
    the ball and the ball starts to move. The ball is
    going 10m/s. The ball is travelling towards a
    playground that is 15 meters away. All of a
    sudden a boy comes up and kicks the ball toward
    the playground and the ball increases to a speed
    of 15 m/s in 3 seconds. The ball has a mass of
    13kg. It takes the ball 55seconds to reach the
    playground.

The ball moves at a speed of 10 m/s due to wind.

Acceleration
  • The calculation for Acceleration final velocity-
    original velocity/ time. The ball started off at
    10 m/s and then increased to 15 m/s in 3 sec, so
    we would subtract 15 m/s the final velocity minus
    10 m/s the original velocity then dividing that
    by 3 sec, the time. So that would give us
    1.666666666666666667 m/s/s.

Average Speed
  • The calculation for average speed is distance/
    time. The average speed for the soccer ball was
    0.2727272727272 m/s, Because the ball was 15
    meters from the playground and it took the ball
    55 second to reach the playground.

  • The force exerted by the wind is Force...
    Forcemass x acceleration so force 13mg x
    1.666666666666666667 m/s/s because 13 mg is the

Momentum
  • The formula for momentum is, momentum mass x
    velocity. The mass of the soccer ball is 13kg and
    the velocity of the soccer ball is 15 m/s. So we
    would multiply 13kg the mass by 15 m/s the
    velocity giving us 195 m/s/kg
  • Momentum 13kg x 15 m/s

  • The formula for weight is weight mass x gravity.
    We already know the mass of the soccer ball is
    13kg and for gravity it would be 9/m/s/s. So we
    would multiply those giving us 117 kg/ m/s/s.
  • Weight 13kg x 9/m/s/s
