US Symbol

• The flag consists of thirteen horizontal stripes,
  seven red alternating with 6 white. The stripes
  represent the original 13 colonies, The stars
  represent the 50 states of the Union.

Famous Person

• Martin Luther King was born on January 15,1929,
  in Altanta, Georgia.

Early Life

• King grew up in Atlanta, he attended Booker T.
  Washington High School, he graduated from
  Morehouse with a Bachelor of Arts degree in
  sociology. King received his Doctor of Philosophy
  on June 5,1955.

Family

• King married Coretta Scott, on June 18,1953. They
  have two sons and two daughters were born into
  the family.

• Dream speech in front of the Lincoln Memorial.
• His dream was equality and civil rights for all
• Americans.

• King was awarded at least 50 honorary degrees

  elsewhere.
• King was also awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

• King was shot and killed by James Earl
• Ray in Memphis Tennessee, on April 4,1968.

• The third Monday of January is Martin Luther
  King, Jr. Day. It is a national holiday.
