2The histories are written by the big bugs,
they tell of great victories of great
men, And when they die, long
obituaries tell of their many virtues
3But we were just the ordinary people, and we did
it !
4- Traditionally, history is taught as the retelling
of events - Instead, why not reverse the
- usual process
- rather than teaching students
- to be consumers of stories...
5-
- Assist students to become
- Social Scientists
- Involved in questioning
- analyzing
- imagining
-
6- Our classes, then, become a setting where
students work as scientists of history,
geography, government - conducting ongoing investigations about the
past and present
7 Art and Photography as Primary Sources for
Investigations
8- Every artwork is biased in some way
9- But even biased sources give us important insight
about the present and the past.
