2Catch the Wave with Study Island was the theme
the students created for our Lab Decorating
Contest. This drawing was done by a 7th grade
student.
3 RMS Art Students colored thirty Catch the Wave
with Study Island designs. Each one was unique
with the students own artistic style.
4Many hours were spent by the art students shading
and blending the colors used in the Study Island
Catch the Wave design.
5All 220 Art Students 6th-8th grade participated
in creating their own Study Island Design to help
develop some ideas for decorating the lab. This
artwork sparked our imagination to incorporate a
3-D surfboard and surfer.
6A 25 sign was colorfully painted with the slogan
Welcome to Study Island. The sign is hung
above the entrance to the computer lab.
7Students hung two shades of blue toiling to
create waves on the walls of the computer lab.
8One of the art students carefully cuts out some
of the designs that attach to the front of the
computers.
9This photo shows a view of how each of the 30
computers in the lab were individually decorated.
10A bare bulletin board gets a makeover, Study
Island Style!
11The tropical colors really brighten up this
board! The calendar shows how busy the computer
lab is with many teachers using it for Study
Island!
12A close up view of the Catch the Wave with Study
Island which sits on top of each computer in the
lab. Each drawing was laminated before being
attached to the computers.
13The students enjoyed decorating the manikin and
making the sign for everyone to have fun at Study
Island!
14Our Study Island décor wouldnt be complete
without the sand, shells, tropical plants, and
even a hula dancer!
15From this view you can see some of the fishnets,
beach bags, and fish hanging from the ceiling,
the waves created on the walls, and the computer
decorations.
16Welcome to Study Island - the artwork has been
enjoyed by so many of the staff and students, and
increased interest in the Study Island program.
17This photo shows another wall adorned with
toiling for waves, crabs, fish, and even a beach
ball suspended from the ceiling.
18Students begin to paint the sky of the mural they
designed for the lab.
19These student are all smiles as they take a short
break from rolling on paint for the mural.
20This shows part of the mural the students painted
and how well they did shading and blending
colors to create their Study Island scenery.
21The wide angle lens captured most of the newly
decorated lab with the addition of the beautiful
tropical mural at the front of the room and the
surfer.
