European Union Digital Library

• At least 6 million books, documents and other
  cultural works are to be put online and housed
  in the European Digital Library by 2010.
• Will be based on infrastructure of an existing
  network that allows access to resources held in
  national libraries.

• Two million books, films, photographs,
  manuscripts and other works should be online
  through the library by 2008.
• Google triggered an international race to build
  an online library when it announced plans in
  December 2004 to digitize books and documents
  from a handful of big libraries.

  the Blackberry wireless service.

  equipment.

  some U.S Navy submarines from the Cold War era.
• The Defense Advanced Research Project Agency
  (DARPA) is funding tests. should be completed
  by Sept.
• DARPA will decide whether to fund project.
