My experiences and why i chose teaching as a
career?

• BTEC National Diploma in Childhood Studies.
• Care assistant in a local infants school.
• After School club.
• To make a difference to a childs education and
  to be a part of one of lifes most challenging
  career.

College

• Ba Education (QTS), this was through the medium
  of Welsh.
• Support was always given when needed during
  college and while on teaching practice.
• The teaching resource library was very well
  equipped with both Welsh and English resources.
• A very good link with local schools.
• Very good support given by my placement schools.

Advantages of a bilingual education.

• More and more jobs are asking for bilingual
  skills.
• Can communicate with a wider variety of people.
• Can give children a sense of belonging in Wales.
• Can give children the opportunity to participate
  fully within the community.
• Welsh Language Board (Rising bilingual Children)

• Bilingualism helps children gain confidence in
  themselves and their culture.
• Bilingualism is best taught by being immersed in
  the language in school and to start as early as
  possible.
• Children develop written skills more effectively
  if taught through another language.
• Will find it easier to learn a foreign language
  in later life.

Why should we retain the Welsh language within
the schools?

• Opens the door to the whole wealth of Welsh
  culture and history and reinforces childrens
  sense of belonging to their community.
• Makes children proud of their culture and where
  they come from.
• Welsh medium education challenges children and
  challenge them for the better.
