Nuisance Sex Crimes
  • Sex crimes which do not involve direct sexual
    contact or physical harm to a victim

  • Distinguish from experimentation
  • Most research suggests all are more common in
    males
  • may be misleading for some including fetishism,

  • Nuisance sex crimes may escalate to more serious
    crimes

Voyerism
  • Watching another individual in a state of undress
    or engaging in a sex act without their knowledge
    or consent.
  • Usually young, socially inadequate males
  • domineering mothers, distant fathers
  • highly self critical, but do not take
    responsibility
  • Sexual trauma in early lifenot necessarily abuse
  • Do not tend to become serious offenders
  • However, many serious offenders began with
    voyeurism
  • Some individuals may move on to more serious
    crimes

Exhibitionism
  • Exposure of genitals or secondary sex organs to
    non-consenting individual
  • Causing shock is part of the sexual thrill
  • Often begins in teen years
  • No consensus on the motivation of exhibitionists,
    may vary between individuals
  • Fright and alarm are expected responses
  • positive responses met with fear
  • Few move on to serious sex crimes, but some do.

Frotterage
  • Rubbing sexually against a non-consenting
    individual
  • Typically occurs in public, crowded places
  • Fantasize about caring relationship with victim
  • Victims usually are attractive and seductively
    dressed
  • reciprocate more often than one would think

  • Typically of high intelligence and of higher SES
    than other types of offenders
  • Not associated with more serious sex crimes, and
    tends to burn out with age.

  • Attaining sexual arousal through telephone
    conversation with a non-consenting individual

    masturbation

  • May have had happy mothers, and unhappy fathers
  • May involve some degree of dissatisfaction with
    self
  • Does not typically interfere with normal sex
    behavior
  • Low association with serious crimes
  • Differs from drag queens

  • Sexual attraction toward the elderly
  • In women may reflect importance on material gain
    or unresolved relations with father figure
  • Less common and more dangerous in males
  • Rape of elderly females exceedingly rare (over
    503)
  • Homicide is more likely however
  • Offenders are typically younger, teens,
    eneuretic, impulsive, cognitively
    unsophisticated, disinterested in young females,
    low self-concept, sadistic
  • Abuse by mother may be somewhat more prevalent

  • Preference for sex with non-human animals
  • Has been illegal throughout most English-American
    history
  • Equally prevalent in both sexes

  • May be of risk when act involves harm to the
    animal
  • Acceleration to human victims
  • Most perpetrators of bestiality are non-violent
    however
  • More common theme in pornography

  • Preference for intercourse with human corpse

    personality disorders
