  technology evolves around the world, people
  should be able to evolve with it.

What is transcoding?

• Transcoding is the process in which you are
  taking a specific video file format and
  digitally reformatting it or converting it into
  another specific format with a larger or smaller
  screen size.
• This process, though, is usually used for
  converting video formats alone, it can also be
  used to fit HTML files or objects into a unique
  container or holder such as a mobile phone or
  other web products.

Transcoding continued

• The way transcoding works is the original data is
  decoded or decompressed to a raw intermediate
  format in a way that mimics the standard
  playback of the original codec and then recodes
  this into the desired target format.

Codecs?

• A codec is a device or program capable of
  performing encoding and decoding on a digital
  data stream or signal.
• Most codecs are lossy, allowing the compressed
  data to be made smaller than otherwise.
• There are also lossless codecs, but for most
  purposes the slight increase in quality might
  not be worth the increase in data size, which is
  often considerable.

Transcoding in companies and technology today

• Many major cooperation's use transcoding
  technology to sell or gain marketing goods
  against other companies.
• Some of these companies include Google, who just
  recently bought Youtube and Yahoo, who also
  transcoding for videos for their audience and
  consumers.

The video transcoding programs I will be using

• The main program I will be using in my
  presentation is the Videora iPod Converter.
• The other program I will use will be AVS Video
  Converter.
