Welcome to Payroll Deduction!

• In this presentation the who, what, where, and
  hows of payroll deduction we be explained.
• If you have any questions please feel free to

What exactly is it

• Payroll deduction is a program where any employee
  working in the Alpine School District, can choose
  to have anywhere from 5 and up taken out of
  their paychecks (after-tax) and donate it to the
  Alpine Foundation.

Why Donate

• All donations are tax-deductible.
• Employees have control over where their
  donations are being placed.
• Be able to buy items that are not typically in
  the class budget.
• Have control over how much money will be taken
  out each month.
• Reduces out of pocket expenses and waiting for
  receipt reimbursements.
• All funds in the account will roll-over to the
  next school year.

How do I start donating

• Fill out (completely) a simple payroll deduction
  form.
• Choose how much to donate.
• Choose which account you would like the money to
  go.
• Make sure all the fields on the form are
  completely filled out and send it back to the
  Foundation.

Where does the donation go

• Employees can choose which account to donate to.
• School Budget
• Class Account
• Foundation Account
• Other

All accounts are maintained at the Foundation and
have to be requested by the teacher or staff
member before using the funds.

How do I request the funds

• Fill out a request for funds form
• Write down the name of your account
• How much money you need
• Sign the form, and have the principal sign
• Send back to the Foundation for further approval.
  
• Once approved a check will be sent to the schools
  financial secretary and available for your use.
• A Form must be filled out each time before
  purchasing items.

Where do I get the Forms

• Financial Secretaries will all receive a copy of
  the form.
• Print a copy of the form on the Foundation
  website under Forms.

What can the funds be used for

• Payroll deduction donations can be used for many
  things.
• Can be used to purchase items for classroom use.
  (cameras, computer programs, books, a chair,
  stationery, etc.)
• Can be used for birthday parties, award parties,
  food, student awards.

What can the funds not be used for

• Funds cannot be used to pay for fees,
  conferences, workshops, of any kind student,
  teacher, class, etc.,
• Funds cannot be used to purchase items for
  personal use other than at school.
• All items purchased with donated funds are
  property of the Alpine School District and must
  stay within the District.

How long can the money be kept in the account

• All accounts will roll-over to the following
  school year. The Alpine Foundation is open all
  year round, so there is never any need to zero
  out your account.
• If you transfer anywhere in the Alpine School
  District your account can be transferred to your
  new location. (You will be responsible for
  notifying the Foundation of any changes
  transfers, name changes, etc.
• If you leave the Alpine School District, you can
  choose to transfer any monies remaining to
  another class account, school budget, scholarship
  fund, or foundation account, but it must be done
  before the termination date.
