- When we are planning on cooking food, we must
remember to always wash our hands. - By washing our hands before we gather the
ingredients, we get rid of any germs that could
pass on colds to others who eat our yummy snack.
3How do we properly wash our hands?
- First we wet our hands.
- Next we should put soap on the palm of our
hands. - Then we should rub our hands and lower arms for
at least 20 seconds.
4How do we properly wash our hands?
- One can also sing the Birthday Song while they
wash their hands so that we know it has been 20
seconds. - Next we must rinse our hands, arms and nails in
warm water in order to clean off the soap. - Finally, we must dry our hands with a towel.
5Now we are ready to begin cooking our delicious
chocolate chip cookies!!
6What ingredients do we need?
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ¾ cup packed brown sugar
- 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
- 1 egg
- 2 ¼ cups Gold Medal all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup coarsely chopped nuts
- 1 package (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
(2 cups)
7Now lets start baking!!
- First, heat the oven to 375ºF
- Then, mix sugars, butter and egg in large bowl.
- Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Stir in nuts and chocolate chips.

- Make the dough into small balls, a little smaller
than a golf ball. - Place the balls of dough on a greased cookie
sheet two inches apart. - Bake the cookies in the oven for 8 to 10 minutes!
