First Three Production Boards Arrived!

• Pre-series of 20 boards all assembled in Italy
  (Seisystem)
• 3 boards equipped with optical receivers and
  received in Geneva
• Further steps done at Uni mounting of
  temperature sensors, cooling plates
• To be done still plugging of mezzanine boards
  (PUs), mounting of protection foil
• This needs to be done also for the remaining 242
  boards!
• 1 board now in Annecy, 2 in Geneva

Quality Tests At Manufacturer

• JTAG/boundary scan test lines and components on
  PCB (60)
• ? OK after repair of some short-circuits between
  near-by resistances
• Reason for short-circuits
• soldering mask with too small holes and manual
  preparation of soldering paste
• New mask will be prepared for remaining
  production
• JTAG test was run on our own system (PCcable)
• Seisystem is installing the same test on their
  own PC
• nearly finished
• Will already be used for the remaining 17 boards
  of the pre-series
• Important tool for manufacturer!

Quality Control in Geneva

• ROD boards were tested on test-bench

Graphic Interface

• Enter board ID with code bar reader
• Configure verify database entry of ROD board
  PUs
• Start tests ? all automatic
• List of test results (fail/pass) plus first error
  analysis ? database

What is tested

• VME access to registers
• Compare hard-wired ROD ID with ATLAS label
• Glink temperature
• Data path on the board staging FPGA ? PU ?
  output controller
• Data injection through optical receivers, readout
  from OC
• Complete data path from injector to readout PC
• Different modes normal (4 PUs) and staging (2
  PUs)
• Results
• 2 boards OK
• 1 board with bad ORX already repaired, now OK

Summary

• In general satisfied with pre pre-series
• Give green light for full production to gain some
  time
• Other projects

• 13 new crates ordered (18 in total)
• Another month delay delivery date is June 2005
• 2 old crates need to be modified for ATLAS
  until May
• ? LAr half-barrel partition
• Cooling station for RODs in USA15
• Mechanics nearly finished
• Electronic part will be completed until end of
  April
• Cooling distribution drawers
• 1 per crate
• Material needs to be ordered
