AIS and MET Datalink activity

• This is now to become a joint RTCA/EUROCAE
  activity.
• RTCA SC206 already established.
• EUROCAE work split across two existing Working
  Groups
• Working Group 44 (for Operational aspects) and 53
  (for Technical aspects)
• Activity will be managed by WG chairmen, EUROCAE
  Technical Committee and Secretariat.
• Additional Call for Participation will be issued
  to European Meteorological organisations.

Specific EUROCAE Considerations for this activity

• Slight difference in the approach and scope to
  take account of European specificities.
• Take into consideration the work done within
  EUROCONTROL.
• Use of ED-78/DO-264 methodology.
• Result in proposed material for ICAO to be
  considered for inclusion in Annex 3.

Phase 1 (under the leadership of WG 44)

• Identification and description of AIS-DL and
  MET-DL services that are envisaged to be
  implemented within the next decade in Europe (and
  the US).
• Establishment of the initial Operational Services
  and Environment Definitions (OSED) for each of
  the identified services and a road map for a
  potential deployment in Europe.

Phase 2 (under the leadership of WG 53)

• Define a work plan to develop the standard (SPR
  and INTEROP) for the services identified at the
  end of Phase 1 and under the responsibility of
  EUROCAE.
• Develop the Safety and Performance Requirements
  (SPR) and Interoperability Requirements
  (INTEROP), according to the methodology defined
  in ED-78a for each AIS-DL and MET-DL service
  identified.
