• From the words net and etiquette, get it?

• It took 38 years for radio to gain 50 million
  listeners.
• It took 13 years for television to gain 50
  million viewers.
• But it only took 4 years for the Internet to gain
  50 million users.
• For that reason, the Internet is no longer the
  wild frontier that it was in the 1990s.

• You dont need many rules if you are driving and
  nobody else is on the highway, but you do when
  the roads are crowded during rush hour.
• Likewise, the more crowded the Internet gets, the
  more important are guidelines for good online
  behavior.
• Here is what I have learned from my own
  experience. These rules apply to e-mail,
  bulletin boards/forums, and chat rooms.

• Unsolicited Commercial E-mail (UCE)
• Off-Topic Messages on Bulletin Boards
• Chain Letters
• Forwarding of E-mail Hoaxes

Send receive e-mail attachments with care.

• Ask before sending really large attachments.
• Consider using a zip/unzip program.
• Watch out for viruses!

Before taking part in a chat room or bulletin
board discussion, learn the rules.

• Impersonation of others
• Revealing real-life info
• Creating websites to bully classmates
• Cyberstalking
