• Also known as Reichskristallnacht,
  Novemberpogrome, Pogromnacht, Crystal Night, and
  the Night of Broken Glass took place on November
  910 1938

Background

• Nazis were elected to power in 1933
• By 1938 Jews had been almost completely excluded
  from German social and political life
• Historians believed that the Nazis had planned
  some sort of violent act, but were just waiting
  for the right time to make their move
• Evidence of such planning stretches back to 1937
• It was a chance for Nazi leaders to escalate
  their antiJewish policies

DETAILS

• The Nazi police was careful to make sure that the
  Jews could not fight back
• They entered their houses and removed anything
  that they could use to defend themselves.
• About 4 million dollars worth of Jewish property
  was destroyed during this night

Conflicts

• The conflict was basically between the Jews and
  the Nazis who took everything they had. The Nazis
  burned and trashed their homes for the only
  orders of one man. For the hatred of one man they
  suffered and had to see their synagogues burn
  down and with a smile on the SS officers face
  was horrible for them to bare.

• This night played an important role because it
  was a threat/warning for the Jews. This was a way
  of telling them that they will no longer be
  respected or treated like they use to do. It was
  a way to let them know that their days will be
  numbered. It helped in WW2 because if it hadn't
  happened then it might have been more difficult
  for the Nazis to send the Jews to the
  concentration camps since they had something
  there to live for

• SUBJECT MEASURES AGAINST THE JEWS THIS NIGHT
• That only such measure were to be taken that
  would not endanger German lives or property (e.g.
  the burning of synagogues was only to be carried
  out if there was no danger of fire spreading to
  the surrounding district).
• Businesses and residences of Jews may be damaged
  but not looted.
• NonJewish businesses are to be protected from
  damage under all circumstances.
• Police are to seize all archives from synagogues
  and offices of community organizations, this
  refers to material of historical significance.
• Officials are to arrest as many Jews especially
  wealthy ones
• For the time being, only healthy male Jews of not
  too advanced age are to be arrested.

• In this night 1574 synagogues were destroyed
• The synagogues were the Nazis 1 target for
  vandalism and desecration of sacred Torah scrolls
  
• It only took a few hours to burn all those
  synagogues

• On this night, many Jews were beaten to death,
  rapped, and arrested
• Jews were required to turn in all precious metals
  to the government
• Jews were physically segregated within German
  towns.
• A ban on the Jewish ownership of carrier pigeons.
  Laws protecting tenants were made non-applicable
  to Jewish tenants

Consequences

• The consequences were that these innocent people
  had suffered so much for something that didnt
  have to happen. This man comes and tries to
  change the world little by little, so he wants to
  get rid of the people who doesnt meet his
  criteria, which is Caucasian and with colored
  eyes and not Jewish.

How did it Affect

• We think that it affected World War 2 because
  they got to see how much that man wanted to get
  rid of them. Like if they hadn't died in the
  fires then they wouldve died in the camps. It
  affects the outcome because if they hadnt burn
  down their things then they would have just come
  back and return back to their normal lives and
  forget about the past. Also like if they hadnt
  taken them away, they probably would have joined
  the war too.
