Title: Chapter Four LESSON 7
1Chapter FourLESSON 7
2 All people since Adam have found it easier to
focus on the creation, including them-selves and
their own physical desires, rather than the
Creator who is an invisible Spirit and can be
seen only with the eyes of faith.
INDEPENDENCE
3I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid
because I was naked so I hid (Genesis 310).
4- Spiritual death was immediate.
- Physical death followed.
- 3. Eternal death, or the second death, is the
final step in the sin curse.
Sin cursed nature too.
5- The curse of sin
- also tainted
- marriage Your
- desire will be for
- your husband and
- he will rule over
- you," God said to
- Eve.
- The gap between desire and rule is huge. Wise
- is the couple that
- understands it and
- works hard to build a
- bridge over the chasm.
6Jesus Diagnosis Sin, the Curse All People are
perishing (whosoever, no exceptions). Every
person in the big crowd.
7- Christ, the Cure - John 316
- 1. God so loved the world,
- 2. That he gave his only begotten son,
- 3. That whosoever believes in him
- (Anyone in the crowd.)
8Wabush, Canada
How is the story of Wabush, a mining town in
remote NE Canada, a fitting analogy to show that
Jesus Christ is the only path to God.
9DEPRAVITY
Not one person has Gods approval (Romans 310
GW ). As spiritual beings, all people are dead
in transgressions and sins (Ephesians 21), and
have only one hope for eternal life the death
of Jesus Christ.
10AUSCHWITZ
What is the great lie of Auschwitz?
11AUSCHWITZ
Are you trusting your own good deeds to save
your eternal soul? Millions do. Are you among
them?
12- Why did the problem of every persons sins,
including yours, require a new birth to heal it?
13What does the illustration, Love in Relationship
Changes Us, say to you about the lavish love of
God?
14Chapter Four Lesson 8
JESUS WHAT A SAVIOR
15Jesus Christ, The Answer
- The fall of man did not catch God off guard
His answer was Jesus. His love motivates people
to choose freely to return His love, honoring
their Rescuer with full loyalty and adoring
worship.
16How did the fact that Jesus was the last Adam
open up the one and only road to eternal life?
17Do you agree your sins are as bad as the cross
of Jesus shows they are?
18SOTERIOLOGY
SOTERIOLOGY the study of the plan of
salvation. It includes all that Jesus did to
make atonement and bring man back into a right
relationship with God. This study has two parts
The New Birth and Sanctification.
19Prevenient Grace
- Prevenient grace is the undeserved favor of God
that draws people toward Jesus Christ and
prepares them for the New Birth. This
astronomically gracious kindness is love unfurled
by heavens hand, extending favors without prior
conditions.
20The three-fold work of the Holy Spirit in drawing
people to Christ
- The Holy Spirit
- Convicts the world of sin.
- Demonstrates the righteousness of Jesus, and
- Convinces people of the judgment to come.
21The Spirits courtship continues until prevenient
grace results in saving faith, or until a person
determines to reject the grace offered with such
kindness.
22- Repentance embraces a particular emotion of deep
sorrow or contrition in which a person sincerely
comprehends the depth of his sins against God.
Repentance
23- REPENTANCE
- In brokenness a person
- turns to God, offering
- his heart, soul, mind and
- strength (Deut. 64-5
- Luke 1027). In this
- complete paradigm
- change, he turns away
- from his sins, makes the
- choice to open himself
- up to God, and seeks
- His mercy.
24- How does Exodus 345-7 change your understanding
of the character of God? - Why is the cross of Jesus the superior revelation?
Mt. Sinai
25Chapter Four LESSON 9
JESUS WHAT A SAVIOR
26- What does Ms. Bartons testimony
- I DISTINCLY REMEMBER FORGETTING IT!
- say to you?
Clara Barton 1821-1912
27- Why must the mind, will and the emotions blend
together for repentance to be genuine?
28SAVING FAITH
- Saving faith is the gift of the Holy Spirit to
believe Jesus will actually forgive me. - In saving faith a penitent concludes Christ
loved me and gave himself for me, and then
actually confesses and receives Jesus as his own
personal Savior and Lord (Galatians 220 Romans
109-10).
29- How is Saul of Tarsus a classic illustration of
conversion? - How is the woman caught in the act of adultery a
classic illustration of justification?
30Beloved, now are we the Sons of God!
- What do the concepts of regeneration and adoption
say to you about your new relationship with Jesus
Christ?
31- Love fulfills the law in the same way that a
mother rushes to the aid of her crying baby,
without any need of a law to tell her to do it.
This word picture explains why love needs no law
to fulfill its obligations, because love births
life and contains its own motivation.
32What does the author mean by credited
righteousness?
As we believe Him in heartfelt repentance, He
lavishly pours His great love into our hearts,
and graciously credits or deposits His
righteousness to our accounts.
33- Do all roads lead
- to God?
- Are you trusting a
- dead end road to
- get you to heaven?
