ANATOMY OF A VERB

• HABL AR

The verb stem is always the same in regular verbs
The verb ending tells you what form the verb is
in. Sometimes it indicates the subject.

There are three types of verb endings

• -AR
• cantar, trabjar, hablar, ayudar
• -ER
• comer, beber, leer, aprender
• -IR
• vivir, abrir, escribir, asistir
• Verbs can be either regular or irregular.

Conjugating a verb

• 1) Drop the ar, -er, -ir ending
• 2) Add the correct ending for the subject
  pronoun.

Conjugating regular verbs in the present tense

• Note -er -ir verbs have the same endings
  except for the nosotros and vosotros form ( -emos
  éis for er verbs and imos ís for ir verbs)

-AR Verbs Dice Drill

• After I have assigned partners, move your desks
  to face one another.
• You will take turns rolling the dado (dice).
• When you roll the dado, you conjugate the verb
  for the subject that corresponds with the number
  your rolled.
• Make sure to give the definition!!
